COURSE DESCRIPTION
Introduction to Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering is an introduction course to the Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering discipline. This course outlines the elemantary knowledge and preliminary assessment of petroleum and natural gas engineering. The areas covered by the discipline are introduced and the relavant terminology and nomenclature are presented.
OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE
The first aim of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge of the petroleum and natural gas engineering and to explain the fields and topics that a petroleum and natural gas engineer is concerned with. Chemical, physical, and thermodynamic properties of oil and natural gas are introduced. The second aim is make students learn about the Department and Faculty facilities and expose them to concepts and ideas about today's issues involving the petroleum and natural gas engineering in general.
CONTENT
Introduction to oil and natural gas industry. Origin, composition and fluid properties of oil and natural gas. Types of oil and natural gas reservoirs. Enhanced recovery methods. Surface production equipments. Transportation of oil and natural gas. Environmental concerns. Oil and natural gas in Turkey and in the world.
