COURSE DESCRIPTION
Operations research is an introduction course to the operations research/management science discipline. This course outlines the decision making processes, basic OR concepts, linear programming and transportation models. The areas covered by the discipline are introduced and the relevant terminology as well as various OR techniques are presented.
OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE
The aim of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge of the operations research and to explain some of the basic OR topics. Linear programming and its solution techniques as well as transportation problems are introduced. Additionally, the students learn to do sensitivity analysis to decision making problems and interpret the solutions of the problems.
CONTENT
Quantitative decision making; model building and modeling philosophy; linear programming and simplex algorithm; Big M method; duality and economical analysis; sensitivity analysis; transportation models and solving methods; lindo and excel solver.
